The Voice returns for a new season on Monday. A new group of vocalists will emerge during tryouts as they compete for one or more chair shifts.
Holly Brand, a former Miss Mississippi who won the title in 2021, is among the candidates set to compete in the upcoming season. The Voice season 23 will premiere on NBC on Monday, March 6, at 8 p.m. ET.

Holly Brand is one of the vocalists who will compete in the upcoming season of The Voice. The candidate is no stranger to the pressures of stage acting, having previously competed in pageants. She was named Miss Mississippi in 2021 and went on to compete in the Miss America 100th jubilee pageant, but she did not place in the top ten.
While competing, she did win a non-finalist talent grant by performing House of the Rising Sun in the performance portion. This is not the first time a member of The Voice season 23 has taken part in a music challenge. Holly made it past the tryout stages on The Voice in 2013.
She was named Mississippi’s Best Adolescent when she was younger, and she has crowned Miss Mississippi in 2019. Holly told Dark Horse Press in June 2021 that she began her pageant career when she was six years old, and that she used to watch the pageants on television and do her “little stance” in an attempt to mimic the competitors and ask if she was doing it correctly.
She stated, ”
“But to think that when I go to Miss America there might be a little girl at home watching me and imitating with the Screen, it’s just crazy. Holly, six, couldn’t believe her luck.”
She stated that while she was upset that she did not win the contest before being awarded, she felt God was instructing her to attempt again. Holly Brand went on to say that it was aggravating, especially during Covid, and she frequently wondered why he gave her the idea but did not make it a reality.
The Voice season 23 contestant stated that she was unprepared for the title and would have been unable to complete the job in the past. The model then discussed her family, stating that everyone in her family plays an instrument, and she herself plays three, one of which is the piano. She continued, saying:
“Music communicates when words fail,” she says, quoting one of her favorite quotes. “So whenever I’m having a bad day or feeling down, all I have to do is sit down at my keyboard and perform my music and croon, and I instantly feel better.”
The upcoming season 23 candidate co-owns Brand New You Boutique in her hometown of Meridian. The clothing company enjoys creating clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, and other items for women of all ages and sizes. The Voice season 23 will premiere on Monday, March 6, at 8 p.m. ET.
