Just three days before the “Immaculate Reception’s” 50th anniversary, the four-time Super Bowl winner went away; the exact reason of death is still a mystery. Franco was supposed to attend a ceremony to retire his No. 32 jersey on Christmas Eve, during the Steelers’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Just two days after the NFL lost one of its most important players in history, Franco’s family released a statement in which they praised him for his amazing career with the NFL as well as his generosity, charity, decency, and humility. They claimed that because of how many lives he had impacted, they were grieving alongside everyone else.

Family of Franco Harris: Where Are They From?

As indicated earlier, Franco was born to an Italian mother and a Black father.

Because of his Italian ancestry, his staunchest fans established a group called as “Franco’s Italian Army,” according to Vault. According to the article, his supporters are a boisterous ethnic group dressed in khaki helmet liners who wave Italian flags and consume wine and cheese while watching Steelers games.

It just so happens that the title of Franco’s well-known play, which made its debut on December 23, 1972, uses biblical terminology despite the fact that his religious affiliation is unknown. Myron Cope, a well-known local sportscaster from Pittsburgh, announced that the Feast of the Immaculate Reception would begin on December 23 at that moment.
