As reported initially by TMZ, the information stated that Ellingson’s father confirmed the former child star had struggled with substance abuse disorder and passed away in the sober living facility where he was residing.

According to his father, Evan Ellingson had been significantly improving, and his passing was a great blow to the family, he told the outlet.

Since his birth on July 1, 1988, Evan Ellingson and his three siblings have resided in La Verne. At the age of ten, he was identified at a skate park and extended an invitation to participate in a commercial for the shoe company and skate for the Vans PeeWee team.

Following that, Evan Ellingson secured guest appearances on “Mad TV” and pursued a career in television. He was a series regular on the Fox sitcom “Titus” in 2000 and portrayed Kyle Savage alongside Keith Carradine and Erik von Detten on the ABC sitcom “Complete Savages” in 2004.

Alongside Kiefer Sutherland, he portrayed Josh Bauer in “24” in 2007. From 2007 to 2010, he portrayed Kyle Harmon, the son of Lt. Horatio “H” Caine, portrayed by David Caruso, on “CSI: Miami.”

Alongside Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, and Abigail Breslin, Ellingson appeared in the 2009 drama film “My Sister’s Keeper.”

The Young Artist Award nomination for best performance in a television series was extended to him in 2005 in recognition of his work on “Complete Savages.” Although he held twenty acting credits, it had been over a decade since his last on-screen appearance.

The former actor sought solace at the River’s Edge Ranch in 2021, where he endeavored to overcome his addiction to substances.

“Life prior to drug use was essentially enjoyable.” “I’ve always had a bit of a thing with [people],” he wrote in a YouTube testimonial for the ranch. “At approximately the age of 19, I began abusing heavy drugs.”

“I reached my lowest point when I was 19 years old.” The former actor continued, “My older brother Austin died of a heroin overdose, and his passing… it threw me over the edge.”

“Upon the passing of my sibling, I suddenly realized that there was more to life and the significance of individuals. I almost did everything in my power to retrieve my sibling, but I knew I was unable to do so.

As a result, it steered me down a downward trajectory in which everything became extremely frightening and dark, and nothing remained enjoyable… It evolved into an extreme bondage from which I was unable to escape.

A multitude of revelations have been bestowed upon me by God during my time at the ranch. I am beginning to comprehend what God was doing and why things were transpiring as they did… My consciousness was restored by God. I am once again filled with optimism and peace… Extremely enthusiastic about life. “I already know that there is hope for myself; all that remains is to share that hope with others.”
