Ryan Tubridy Will Depart From The Late Late Show

Ryan Tubridy

RTÉ has announced that Ryan Tubridy would leave his position as host of the Late Late Show. The broadcaster has presented the chat show since 2009 when he succeeded Pat Kenny as its host.

Mr. Tubridy’s final program will air on RTÉ One on Friday, 26 May. No decision has been made regarding his successor as show host.

Mr. Tubridy stated that it has been an honor to host the national institution that is the Late Late Show for the past fourteen years.

I am extremely appreciative of the viewers’ unwavering commitment to the Late Late Show week after week.

His weekday program will continue to air on RTÉ Radio One.

Dee Forbes, director general of RTÉ, stated,

“I would like to thank Ryan and appreciate his tremendous dedication to the Late Late Show throughout the seven years I had the pleasure of working with him.”

She praised the program as a “domestic and international television phenomenon” for which Mr. Tubridy “deserves huge credit.”

The Late Late Show is the second longest-running late-night talk program in the world, second only to the Tonight Show in the United States.

Although having debuted on television in 1962, the show has had only three consistent presenters.

The longest-serving host of the program was the late Gay Byrne, who served from 1962 to 1999.

Pat Kenny succeeded him and hosted for a decade, from 1999 to 2009.

The show, which combines light entertainment and current events, is regarded as an Irish tradition.

Its annual highlight is the Late Late Toy Show, which airs in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The Christmas special includes performances by children as well as the year’s most popular children’s toys.

Mr. Tubridy is the highest-paid external presenter at the Irish national broadcaster, earning €440,000 (£387,543) annually.

Who could serve as the next host?

By Shane Harrison, a correspondent for BBC News in Dublin The Late Late Show on RTÉ is a broadcasting institution in Ireland.

Inside and outside RTÉ, there is significant conjecture around the identity of the new host.

The early favorite is Miriam O’Callaghan, a television newscaster.

She has previously hosted the program and frequently hosts summertime chat shows.

Brendan O’Connor, who has hosted a Saturday night television program, and the comic Tommy Tiernan, who presents a chat shoot in which he does not know who the guests would be, are both addressed.

Bookmakers also provide odds on the presenter Claire Byrne and, perhaps most intriguingly, the British comedian and presenter Dara Briain.

He ruled himself out as a candidate when Pat Kenny resigned, but he is now considered a dark horse.
