But in the early 2000s, the actor only made a few movie appearances between his MTV series and film parts. What happened to Tom Green left many folks wondering. Sadly, he was experiencing serious health issues at the moment.

Testicular carcinoma was discovered in Green in March 2000. He kept his situation a secret from others once he became aware of it. Tom Greengot’s medical guidance underwent a quick procedure.

He had the affected testicle removed though after being told he had testicular cancer. The doctors were interested in whether the cancer cells had expanded. Therefore, to learn more about the spread, they recommended Green have his lymph nodes removed.

He would spend a lot of time in bed recovering from the major operation to remove the lymph nodes. The performer then decided to make his illness known to the public.

He described himself as “very worried out, scared, and unhappy” in an interview with ABC News from December 2000. His friends were present at his house when he made a decision.

They thought that by discussing his condition, they would help those who were experiencing testicular cancer. He consequently published The Tom Green Cancer Special, an hour-long MTV special, on May 23, 2000. Cameras were allowed in the facility where the celebrity patient underwent surgery. In the MTV broadcast, the process was graphically demonstrated.

Green won a lot of admiration for opening up to his friends and followers about his trying experience. Thankfully, his cancer had not progressed, and he made a full recovery.

The actor spoke about his fight with cancer and surgery in an interview with Vulture in 2017. He claimed that since the surgery more than ten years ago, he had not talked much about it.

However, he did mention that it took him roughly ten years to recover. In addition, the endocrine readjusting had left him feeling very uncomfortable. He said that to get to where he was now, he had to put in a lot of effort. In any case, he claimed that he was content and pleased with himself.

After his surgery was a success, Green made a few appearances in movies and television programs. Some examples include Interviewing Monsters and Sasquatch, Grind, Sweet Baby Jesus, Iron Sky: The Coming Race, Celebrity Big Brother 2 (USA), and others.

Green is presently less interested in watching movies and TV shows and more into YouTube and vlogging. He has a YouTube account with more than 296K subscribers. In addition, he shares five to eight videos with his followers each month in which he shares his adventures and those of his dog Charlie.

After 15 years apart, he and Barrymore recently got back together. He made a special surprise appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in September 2020, where they toasted their times together and shared memories.
