Donald William Burke OAM is an Australian television producer, author, gardener, and broadcaster. He also developed the gardening renovation show Backyard Blitz, which stars Jamie Durie, a former colleague.
His 17-year stint as presenter of Burke’s Backyard, a lifestyle program produced by his wife’s firm CTC Productions and shown on the Nine Network from 1987 to late 2004, is what made him most famous.
On January 26, 2010, Burke was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his work in horticulture, media as a television broadcaster, and environmental conservation via advisory positions.
On A Current Affair in July 2015, Burke and his wife, Marea, disclosed Marea’s health difficulties, including arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and breast cancer.

More than 50 years have passed since Don and Marea Burke got married. She oversees CTC Productions, the couple’s media company that created several well-known lifestyles and home renovation series, as was already noted.
Marea’s main customer was Burke’s Backyard magazine, which ceased publication in 2013. The pair, who are known for keeping their private lives private, provided a rare glimpse inside their lives in 2015.

Don’s wife has an arteriovenous malformation (AVM). It is an abnormal group of blood vessels sitting on top of her brain that resembles varicose veins and can be dangerous if addressed.
The whole family joined together to help Marea during this difficult period. They referred to one another as their soulmates during the interview.
Even though the previous 19 years have been difficult for them, Marea and Don have found at least one good thing about their situation.
Marea says that going through these challenges together has strengthened their bond.
She seems unmoved by her charges against her hubby or her health issues.
The anchor of A Current Affair, Tracey Grimshaw, even referred to Marea as “tough, yet fragile” when she inquired about her thoughts on the scandal surrounding her husband.
She must have faced challenges over the previous several years, but it seems she will persevere.

Sean Burke, a Sunday football program producer, and Christine Burke, Burke’s Backyard’s executive producer, are Don Burke’s two children. In addition to his wife, he also has two grandkids.
Even though Marea shied away from Burke’s attention, she was largely to blame for his success off-camera.
Burke said that she was the CEO of the production business CTC Productions. It was a big task; she handled the personnel, coordinated everything, and brought hazy concepts to life.
A television executive ended Burke’s Backyard in 2004 after 17 years on the Nine Network, a decision he allegedly called to as “dumb” at the time.
The reason for the show’s discontinuation is unknown, however, there have been earlier speculations that it was due to the ratings drop of some participants and their dictatorial conduct.
