Starz: ‘Black Mafia Family’, By Big Meech And Brother Terry Flenory

Starz

Following the success of 50 Cent’s Starz drama Power, which he produced, the rapper introduced the all-new crime series Black Mafia Family (BMF).

The first season premiered in September of last year, and the second is set to premiere in the latter half of 2022.

The true stories of Detroit brothers turned drug kingpins Demetrius Flenory, aka Big Meech, and his brother Terry Southwest T Flenory, aka Southwest T, inspired Black Mafia Family.

The show is set in 1980s Detroit and teaches viewers that there was innocence before poverty drove them to a life of heinous crime.

Big Meech’s charismatic leadership, his younger brother’s savvy, and their vision established the Flenory brothers as global icons.

Before the younger brother graduated high school, the brothers were already raking in thousands of dollars and decked out in designer clothing and jewelry.

However, things changed between the brothers, resulting in their eventual estrangement.

By the time Big Meech was arrested in 2005, he had amassed over $270 million in drug proceeds.

Big Meech And His Brother Both Pled Guilty

Prior to the arrest, the Flenory brothers had a falling out, and the younger brother relocated to Los Angeles in 2001 to run his own business.

But not even their feud could bring down the company, which was founded in 1991.

Unfortunately, a series of errors resulted in their arrest, and the two brothers were sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008.

The DEA gathered evidence by convincing their associates to become informants in exchange for a reduced sentence.

After incriminating evidence was discovered against the duo, Big Meech and Southwest T pleaded guilty to several charges.

According to multiple reports, the evidence was obtained with the assistance of former BMF associates Omari ‘O-Dog’ McCree and William ‘Doc’ Marshall.

Starz was in charge of supplying clients with multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine on a regular basis, while Marshall had witnessed some drug exchanges.

After COVID spread in the prisons, the younger Flenory was released from prison and placed under house arrest in 2020.

Meanwhile, Big Meech will be released in 2028.

Lil Meech Plays His Father, Big Meech

Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. plays his father, Big Meech, in the series based on the drug lords’ lives, while Da’Vinchi plays Southwest T.

Lil Meech discussed his role with HipHopDX and opened up about his life and father.

He was only five years old when his father was arrested in 2005, and he claims he has no memory of his father’s illegal activities.

The actor remembered hanging out with his “cool dad” all the time and having a good time, but he had no idea what he did for a living.

His father would transport him to various houses in his cars and private jets.

But after watching the series, Starz realized what his father was like as a person.

“I had to put myself in his shoes and consider the issues and challenges he faced. I got to talk to him and learn things I never knew before, so it was a total learning experience “The actor stated.
